ARCHITECTURAL VISION FOR THE TRUMP ESTATE OUTLINED BY PROJECT ARCHITECT

Jul 19, 2018

The architect behind £150million plans for housing at the Trump Aberdeen estate has outlined his vision for the site.

Named The Trump Estate, this new residential community will provide a range of two, three, four and five bedroom cottages, townhouses and mansions ranging from £295,000 to several million.  Drawing precedent from the region’s rich architectural heritage, the intention is to create luxury, spacious homes within a mature landscaped setting.

Lead architect Andy McNair, Consultant to Covell Matthews and Managing Director of Douglas & Stewart, has drawn inspiration from the architecture of the North East of Scotland for the development, which is currently being considered by Aberdeenshire councillors.

The organised, geometric and regular layouts typically associated with traditional towns and villages is a refreshing improvement to the uncontrolled, sprawling developments of modern planning,” he said.

“A structured, well thought out masterplan facilitates growth in an aesthetically controlled manner. The Trump Organization saw the benefits in this approach, and commissioned Covell Matthews Architects to design this next phase of development.”

Nestled in the sprawling 1500 acre grounds, home to wild meadows, old growth woodland and sand dunes, the residential areas are designed as a walking community, focusing on the person rather than the vehicle, complete with walking routes throughout the development, through the golf course and beach.

Mr McNair added: “There is a recognised beauty in the vernacular architecture seen in the North East of Scotland, an aesthetic that we can confidently deploy in this development to long exceed the longevity of the fashionable contemporary.

“Local villages like Monymusk were key inspiration in developing the style. The use of high quality traditional materials to complement the mature landscape of the estate.

“Materials include natural slate and lead detailing to roofs, granite and render to walls, timber sash and case windows and ornate timber detailing to fascia and entrance porches. Similarly, the new Trump Estate will have a considered palette of colours to complement the natural materials.

“This is a unique development, offering the most luxurious accommodation in the area, sensitively situated within mature landscaped gardens. All within the curtilage of a world class golf resort in one of the world’s most stunning coastal settings.”
